After a long overdue wait, Style Your Kicks is back with a very special summer edition for you. It may be raining in the east and hot in the west, but it's summer time! Before we get into this week's selection of kicks, the streets have been talking for a long time about how to properly style the hyperposite "Statue of Liberty" kicks. I put together a special outfit to share with you for some style inspiration.
The first thing to remember when styling a shoe like these is that if you try matching directly... you will fail! The color of the shoe is very unique so your adds of finding the exact shirt are very slim. I ran into this statue of liberty shirt online by Nike and immediately thought it was dope for the colors and the use of shoes within. Check out the outfit and use it to inspire your style.
For this week, I chose to go with a shoe from the upcoming Play Cloths x Saucony Shadow 5000 "Cotton Candy Pack" for the ladies, and the Nike Foamposite One "Sport Royal" dropping later this month for the men. For the women's outfit I chose to play off of the pink instead of making it the main attraction. Since its summer time, a cutout shoulder is perfect for showing a little skin. Also, the pink OPI nail polish is both subtle and plays off of the kicks to keep up with the girly theme of the outfit. A nice high bun or curly locks go perfect with the gold accessories. Take a look at the outfit below and let it be your guide for styling the upcoming collab. kicks.
Next up for the men I also wanted to keep things summer-inspired, yet subtle. Just because the shoe is royal blue, doesn't mean everything in your outfit has to be too. When I saw this galaxy-inspired Wu Tang Clan shirt I thought it was the perfect match for the Sport Royal's. Since the blue is more of a background color in the shirt, I added a silver and royal blue DKNY watch to bring out that royal blue color again. Also, for men I love, love, love when they wear cargo shorts in the summer. They're stylish, lightweight and really complete the look. Check out the outfit below and get inspired. Be sure to keep it locked to FollowTheKicks for more editions of "Style Your Kicks".
